COVO's 21st Annual Convention and 3rd Lapu-Lapu Awards Gala, August 6, 2006, Pacific Beach Hotel. 

A panel of speakers will discuss the theme of the convention - Beyond the Filipino Centennial: Building Community.  The biennial awards recognize Filipinos of Visayan ancestry who have distinguished themselves in various fields of endeavor, and will include for the first time the Young Achievers Awards.  IPAG will provide entertainment.

Hawaii tour of the Integrated Performing Arts Guild (IPAG) of the MSU-Iligan Institute of Technology, July 27-August 8, 2006. 

One of the foremost theater companies in the Philippines, this multi-awarded group has received rave reviews and acclaim from audiences in Europe and Asia.  They will present their signature show "Tales from Mindanao" in Kauai, Hilo, Maui and Honolulu.

50th year commemoration of Florentino Das' solo voyage from Hawaii to the Philippines, May 14, 2006, in Honolulu. 

A marker at Kewalo Basin will be unveiled, with an exhibit of the replica of his boat, the Lady Timarau, pictures, and a narrative of his voyage.  Florentino Das hails from Samar in the Visayas, Philippines.
